A cable being stress tested

Do you know how many times your cable can flex before potentially compromising your probe’s performance?

Have you heard of cable flex testing? Do you know how many times your cable can flex before potentially compromising your probe’s performance? Did you know that ultrasound probes used in echo-cardiology studies tend to experience cable failures much sooner than those used in other locations?

At Innovatus, we’ve been testing cable longevity for years so we can help you maintain the performance of your devices with optimum efficiencies. Take a look at a cable flex tester in action. Cable flex testing is just one proprietary device used by Innovatus Imaging to help capture probe performance.

A cable flex tester helps Innovatus quantify the number of twists and flexes a cable can endure before performance is compromised

Over the past few months, we’ve been asking the question, “How many times do you think a cable can flex before risking compromised performance”. We entered all respondents into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card. The exact answer is actually based on the design of the individual, model-specific, product. Our teams have identified that a combination of 100,000 flexes and twists is a good, general, approximation across a broad variety of ultrasound probe models.

And the winner is…

We did receive a large amount of entries. However, only a few came within 10% of 100,000. We’re happy to announce that Joe Zdelar is our winner. Joe is a Medical Imaging Repair Technician at Steward-Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren, Ohio. We want to thank Joe and all those who participated. Congratulations Joe !
